Nicholas F. Mueller Jr. Archives

The Nicholas F. Mueller Jr. Archives serves to collect and preserve the history of Stevenson University (and Villa Julie College). The Mueller Archives are maintained in the Philip A. Zaffere Library in a modern, secure environment.

Arrangements can be made to conduct archival research by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please fill out our Archives Research Request form.

If you are a Stevenson staff or faculty member, student, or alumnus, and you have materials that “tell the story of" Stevenson or Villa Julie, please contact us about donating your materials in order to preserve it for future generations. To provide us information about your materials, please fill out our Archives Donation form.

The Villalog Yearbook

Villa Julie College Yearbook Collection

The Villa Julie College's student-produced yearbook was published from 1954-1963 (Villalog) and 1976-1988 (Seven Oaks / Great Oaks). The digitized yearbook issues are available on the Internet Archive. Physical copies of the yearbooks are available in the Nicholas J. Mueller, Jr. Archives in the Library.

Spectrum Magazine

Spectrum Literary and Art Magazine

The Spectrum magazine was published in print from 1992-2013 by students at Stevenson University (previously Villa Julie College). The publication was overseen by faculty advisors in the English and Art departments. The collection of the digitized magazines are available on the Internet Archive. Physical copies of the yearbooks are available in the Nicholas J. Mueller, Jr. Archives in the Library.

Beginning in 2015, publication of the literary magazine became digital. The first digital form was THIS Magazine (https://thislit.wordpress.com/), which was published in Fall 2015 – Spring 2016 by the English Department. The Greenspring Review (https://www.greenspringreview.org/) has been published since Fall 2016- and is available online from the English Department.  

The Villager Student Newspaper

The Villager student newspaper was published in print from 1973-2015 by students at Stevenson University (previously Villa Julie College). The collection is currently being digitized. Physical copies are available in the Nicholas J. Mueller, Jr. Archives in the Library. 

Beginning in 2015, the publication of the newspaper became digital. Currently, The Villager is available online (https://stevensonvillager.com/).  

Student Handbooks

The Villa Julie College student handbook collection includes copies published between 1965 and 2008. The handbooks provide an interesting snapshot of student life throughout VJC's history, containing information on student conduct and academic regulations, student services and associations, and general information needed to orient students to campus and college life. The collection of the digitized handbooks are available on the Internet Archive. The collection is currently being digitized. Physical copies are available in the Nicholas J. Mueller, Jr. Archives in the Library. 

Request for Removal

The Stevenson University library includes items in our digital collections in an unedited format in order to maintain the historical accuracy of the collection and may contain offensive images and negative stereotypes. Today, Stevenson University condemns these representations. Requests for the removal of content contained in the magazines can be submitted to the Library on the AskUs! webpage.
